Why I Cancelled FabFitFun After One Try
Hey! Me again. It's been a while. To start things off... if you're someone that uses social media, reads a magazine every once in a while, or basically somebody that doesn't live under a rock... you've probably seen or heard of the FabFitFun box. Most often endorsed by a celebrity, these boxes are taking over newsfeeds nationwide. I'll admit it - the bombardment of these ads (and the deceiving but persuasive social media posts from famous people) pushed me to subscribe to this box - mostly just to see what the hype was all about. So, fast forward to today's date, I decided to do this post to inform people that may be considering it. OR for anyone looking for a non-biased review. OR for anyone that gets a kick out of these posts (haha)
Well, here it is. The FabFitFun box in all of its glory. Upon arrival, it's cute AF. I mean seriously - this was their summer box and the packaging pretty much screams summer. Their pitch is: for the price of $49.99, you'll receive over $200 worth of full sized items. They're a quarterly subscription, so you're only charged 4 times a year. Not bad, plus you can almost always find some sort of discount, which is nice but somewhat questionable... lol. You can also customize a handful of products that you'll receive in the box, but apparently I missed the cut off for that one (a couple products were labeled "mystery picks") Anyways, based off of my first impression, this box was filled to the brim with products. Okay, cool. Moving on.
• Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream & 4 Play Moisturizing Shower Cream-Gel
• 111Skin Rose Gold Brightening Facial Treatment Mask (Set of 5)
• Generation Clay Ultra Violet Brightening Clay Mask
• Grace & Stella Rose Facial Spray
• Invisibobble Original Duo Pack
• COOLA Organic SPF 30 Makeup Setting Sunscreen Spray
• Burn 60 Resistance Bands
• Whish Exfoliating Foot Mask
• Dr. Brandt "pores no more" Luminizer Primer
The "Worth It" Items
Burn 60 Resistance Bands (first photo) : Yes. Please. I love to go to the gym, but I also love to workout at home sometimes. I had been wanting to invest in a good set of resistance bands to incorporate into some at-home workouts. So, when I saw that these were in the box, I was thrilled. They retail for $34, so the fact that they came in this $49.99 subscription box (with 8 other items) was kind of a steal.
111Skin Rose Gold Brightening Facial Treatment Mask (second photo) : Yaaaas. I always love a good sheet mask, and I am always adding more sheet masks to my collection (lol) I'm a skincare junkie, so I was pretty happy with these. And after noticing that a pack of 5 masks retails for $160 (gasp) I was beyond excited to have received them! This one was definitely a steal.
Sol de Janeiro Brazilian 4 Play Moisturizing Shower Cream-Gel & Bum Bum Cream (third photo) : Soooo the name is a bit of a mouthful, yes. These two are normally sold separately, but in this case, they came as a bundle. I actually have always wanted to try the Brazilian Bum Bum cream, because I've heard a ton of great things about it. It also always seems to make its way to those "best products" lists. As a bundle, this retails for $45, and the Bum Bum cream alone retails for $20. So, yes, this was also quite the steal.
The "Not So Worth It" Items
Grace & Stella "Spray All Day" Rose Spray (first photo) : Ahhh, yes. The rose water facial spray infatuation that's sweeping the nation. Don't get me wrong - I, too, go through bottle after bottle of rose water spray. I love it, and it does have it's benefits. However, this specific rose facial spray by Grace & Stella retails for $25.95... Sure, this is a product that I'd actually use, but I'd never pay that much for it outside of the FabFitFun box.
Dr. Brandt "pores no more" Luminizer Primer (second photo) : I can tell you right now that I'll never use this product (retails for $45, so if any of my friends use this, let me know - it's all yours lol) This is more of a personal preference. I never use primer before make up because it clogs my pores, which results in a lovely breakout. Not fun. Not worth it. Maybe I haven't found the right primer yet, who knows. But I'm definitely not a fan of pimples, so for now, I'll pass.
Invisibobble Original Duo Pack (third photo) : I'll keep this one simple. Cool concept? Sure. More hair ties to add to the hundreds that I already have? Sure. Will I end up losing them? Most likely. $16 retail price for 6 hair ties? No thanks.
Wrapping It Up
I guess one cool thing about this box of full sized products is that you can definitely re-gift anything you don't want. (I won't be, because this post would totally give it away lol) Overall, it was fun to receive a box like this. It was basically like giving yourself a gift. But, I cancelled mine after the first box just because I don't think I'd ever be interested in over half of the products if it weren't for this box... which is somewhat good exposure for those companies, but I still won't be resubscribing anytime soon. If you are interested in subscribing to FabFitFun, you’ve most likely seen an ad for it already today (ha) but if you haven't, this link is 100% non-endorsed, non-affiliate, not sponsored, etc. Or you just Google it. Or scroll through Instagram for a while. I'm sure you'll find it. My apologies for the lengthy post. Hopefully this doesn't scare you off, but if you've made it this far, thanks for reading!
